Saffron For Pregnant Women


The pregnant mother’s dream is to give birth to a beautiful child.  Fat & Fair ! This is a natural.  They drink cow’s milk mixed with saffron during pregnancy. This practice is followed throughout our country.

Does this practice really result in a fair complexioned child ?  It is not medically proved so.

But during the 5th and 9th month if the expectant mother drinks milk mixed with saffron,  it helps the purification of the mother’s blood and also provided the necessary nutrients to the baby.  It helps the child in the womb to be healthy.

Our forefathers had followed this practice because they felt “ A healthy child is a beautiful child.”  Saffron bears other names also like  Kesar,  Kashmere.

Saffron primarily fights anemic problem of a pregnant mother.  The child’s skin gets the glow through this practice.   Saffron can be taken along with betel leaf or with hot milk.  It helps in reducing the labor pain to a great extent.

Saffron plays an important role in helping the mother during post delivery.   It helps to fight the fatigue arising out of loss of blood during delivery.   To fight the anemic problem half a gram saffron mixed with a cup of milk can be taken before retiring to bed.  It helps the digestive process and improves appetite.

It helps to enhance vitality, fights mouth ulcers, ulcers. It purifies blood.  The child bearing mother is not affected by cold or cough. 
Getting pure saffron is a slightly difficult task.  Market is filled with fake goods.   One must be careful in choosing the right shop to purchase it.

  1. I've heard alot about saffron milk being taken by pregnant women, but I think it's all psychological, though the health benefits are plenty. That's a fact!
